Folio

Turn a Xero account export into a summary you can open down to the line.

Upload an Account Transactions workbook. Folio splits the description, adds up debit and credit, and lets you open the lines behind any total. The control figure is the sum of the lines in the file, so it can be agreed to the ledger.

What Folio does now

  • Reads a Xero Account Transactions export: date, source, description, reference, debit, and credit.
  • Splits a description into supplier, purchase order, customer code, quote, and any leftover note, where the text is written that way.
  • Summarises debit, credit, and the net by those fields, and by date, source, and reference.
  • Keeps every line in the control total. Period-end journals stay in that total and out of the supplier and quote summaries.
  • Exports the current summary and the lines behind it to Excel.

What we can add

  • A direct connection to Xero, so the same summaries can be run without first saving a spreadsheet.
  • Rules for a different way of writing descriptions, including names beside short codes.
  • Several exports together, such as a full year or more than one account.
  • Other Xero reports, shaped to the question you actually need answered.

Xero, tidied up

SoftSol can help interface with Xero and tidy the way transactions are described, so the ledger is easier to summarise and easier to agree. Folio is one place that work can land. If the descriptions, the reports, or the link to Xero need to be shaped for your books, we can build that with you.
